Men's Soccer Announces 2007 Schedule

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana men's soccer team has released its 2007 schedule, head coach Mike Freitag announced today. The Hoosiers will host the IU Credit Union/adidas Classic in addition to seven other home games on Yeagley Field at Armstrong Stadium this season.
After an exhibition contest against New Mexico in Fort Wayne, Ind., the Hoosiers return to Bloomington on Aug. 31 and Sept. 2 for the annual Classic, where they will face national powers Maryland and UCLA. Additionally, in-state rival Notre Dame will be at the two-day Classic to play a pair of games.
The Hoosiers will then travel to a pair of tournaments over the next two weekends. IU is slated to face Northern Illinois on Friday, Sept. 7, and Rhode Island on Sunday, Sept. 9, at the Notre Dame Tournament in South Bend, Ind. The Hoosiers will follow that up by taking on Creighton on Thursday, Sept. 13, and Saint Louis on Saturday, Sept. 15, in the Saint Louis Tournament.
Indiana returns to Yeagley Field at Armstrong Stadium for a battle with Alabama-Birmingham on Friday, Sept. 21, and a mid-week contest against Butler on Wednesday, Sept. 26. IU then opens its conference schedule in Ann Arbor, Mich., against Michigan on Saturday, Sept. 29.
Former Hoosier John Trask's Illinois-Chicago squad then comes to Bloomington for a Wednesday, Oct. 3, game at 7 p.m. After hosting Michigan State on Saturday, Oct. 6, the Hoosiers will then take to the road for a trio of games over two weeks.
IU finishes its home slate with three games over a one-week span. The Hoosiers host Ohio State on Sunday, Oct. 21, at 2:30 p.m. as part of a doubleheader following the IU women's soccer contest against Oakland. Indiana will then face Evansville on Wednesday, Oct. 24, before facing Penn State on Saturday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. for Senior Day.
After contests on the road against Kentucky and Wisconsin, the Hoosiers will head to Michigan State in search of their 12th Big Ten Tournament Championship. The NCAA Tournament starts on Thursday, Nov. 8 and runs through the College Cup Finals on Sunday, Dec. 16.
