Campillo Advances to Quarterfinals at British Amateur

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana men's golfer Jorge Campillo advanced to the quarterfinals at the British Amateur Championship before falling to Australia's Tim Stewart, 1-up. Historic Royal Lytham & St. Annes Golf Club is hosting the event.
Campillo advanced to match play after shooting a pair of 69s and tying for 17th place in the 36-hole stroke play portion of the championship. David Horsey claimed medalist honors after carding a 132 (64-68), earning a one-stroke victory over Mark Thistleton (66-67).
The Caceres, Spain, native opened match play with a 3-and-2 victory over Scott Mann of Carnoustie. Campillo then easily disposed of Hornsea's Steven Uzzell, 7 and 6. Uzzell shared 10th place during stroke play with 137 (69-68).
In round three, he knocked off Purley Chase's Andrew Sullivan, 2 and 1, to advance to the quarterfinals. Sullivan finished in a three-way tie for fifth place in stroke play, shooting 66 in the opening round and 69 on the second 18.
