Campillo Finishes Eighth at European Amateur

Jorge Campillo finished in eighth place at the European Amateur Championship.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana men's golf junior Jorge Campillo recorded a 6-under-par total in 72 holes and finished in eighth place at the 20th International European Amateur Championship.

Campillo played at 7-under par in the second and third rounds by shooting a 68 and 69, respectively. He opened with an even-par 72 before closing the event with a 73.

Benjamin Herbert of France earned medalist honors, winning a playoff over Sweden's Joel Sjoholm. The duo finished the event tied with matching 11-under 277s.

Earlier this summer, Campillo captured the Sofitel Biarritz Cup and reached the quarterfinals at the British Amateur Championships. He advanced to match play after carding back-to-back 69s and sharing 17th place in the 36-hole stroke play portion of the championship.
