Hoosier Hitters is Back!

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana University volleyball squad is teaming up with the Hoosierland Volleyball Club and the Boys and Girls Club of Bloomington to create a developmental volleyball program for elementary children in the area. In addition, the Hoosiers will also be hosting the Hoosier Hitter clinics once again this fall.
"I'm excited to be able to run Hoosier Hitters this year after hearing of the success in past years," said Indiana Head Coach Sherry Dunbar. "Anything we can do to promote volleyball in the community is a priority to me, which is why we've also teamed with the Boys and Girls Club and Hoosierland to run a development league for the young kids."
On the days of the Ohio State match (Sept. 29) and the Illinois match (Oct. 27), Hoosier Hitter participants will have the chance to learn volleyball fundamentals from the varsity student-athletes and coaches for only $10 for BOTH sessions. Hoosier Hitters will be similar to years past. IU coaches and players will be the clinicians that are committed to offering the best development coaching available in southern Indiana.
With Hoosier Hitters you receive two clinics, a t-shirt and free admission for the Hoosier Hitter if wearing the t-shirt to that night's match. Participants will learn the fundamentals of individual skills such as serving, passing, setting, attacking, blocking and defense. Team offense and team defense concepts will also be taught.
Current players and coaches will demonstrate drills that the Hoosiers use in practice in order to prepare for matches. The Hoosier Hitters program is a great way to stay involved with the program, and improve on skills learned in summer camp and practice during your school's competitive season. Hoosier Hitters is also a fun, interactive experience for young children with current Hoosier players, coaches and staff.
