Quirarte Closes Out Strong Summer

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Senior men's golfer Santiago Quirarte concluded a strong summer of golf with a second-place finish representing the Mexican National Team at the World University Games in Nakhonnayok, Thailand. The Mexican National Team finished one shot off the pace set by Thailand in the 16-team field and Quirarte finished 13th individually (74-72-72-72).
Quirarte also earned medalist honors at three events and a runner-up finish this summer. After shooting a 210 in a 49-player field, the Queretaro, Mexico, native won the XIII Copa Modelo.
In his other two top finishes, Quirarte captured the MVS Invitational Golf Tour Championship in Queretaro and picked up the win at the 45-player Gira Ranking. He also placed second in the 52-player Mercedes Cup with a 213 total.
Quirarte and the Hoosiers open their fall campaign at the Inverness Intercollegiate in Toledo, Ohio, on Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 10-11.
