Patrick Races to Sixth in 200 Individual Medley

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - T.P. Patrick (Chesterfield, Mo./Marquette) easily surpassed the Olympic Trials qualifying time with a mark of 2:02.95 to finish sixth in the men's 200 individual medley race on the final day of competition at the ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis.
Teammate A.J. Miller (Middlebury, Ind./Northridge) was 47th in the prelims (2:07.70), followed by Steven Murry (Memphis, Tenn./Gateway Christian) in 57th (2:08.45). Rounding out the group was Heath Tameris (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) with his time of 2:13.02.
Competing in the 200 IM, Ashley Jones (Joliet, Ill./Minooka Community) led the Hoosier competitors with a time of 2:21.43 (62nd). Presley Bard (Napa, Calif./Napa) touched the wall in a time of 2:24.61 (105th), followed by Sarah Stockwell (Kent, Wash./Kentlake) in 2:28.78 and Jessica Hill (2:30.82).
Cassie Luhrsen (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township) placed 51st in the women's 1,500 freestyle (17:37.15). The men's 4x100-meter individual medley relay saw the team of Patrick, Titus Knight (Austin, Texas/James Bowie), Ben Hesen (Jeffersonville, Ind./Jeffersonville) and John Koehler (Springfield, Ohio/Central Catholic) finish 20th with a time of 3:28.77. The women's squad of Jones, Amilee Smith (Ellicott City, Md./Howard), Donna Smailis (Highland, Ind./Highland) and Kristin Cihoski (Yorktown, Va./Tabb) was 38th (4:23.04).
In action at the Kaiser Permanente National Diving Championship in Stanford, Calif., Christina Loukas (Riverwoods, Ill./Deerfield) qualified second heading into Sunday's 3-meter springboard final. Loukas will also be competing in the 3-meter synchronized final.
