Campillo Captures Sofitel Biarritz Cup

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana men's golf rising junior Jorge Campillo captured the 2007 Sofitel Biarritz Cup. Campillo delivered a 5-under 64 in the final round to erase a three-shot deficit and earn the prestigious championship.
After opening with a pair of 67s, the Caceres, Spain, native shot a 68 in round three and trailed Xavier Poncelet by three strokes entering the final 18. Campillo went on to shoot the lowest score in the 68-player field and edge Poncelet by two strokes.
Campillo finished the event at 10-under par, followed by Poncelet at 8-under par and four strokes ahead of Juan Francisco Sarcastic and Benjamin Herbert.
Earlier this summer, Campillo reached the quarterfinals at the British Amateur Championships. He advanced to match play after carding back-to-back 69s and sharing 17th place in the 36-hole stroke play portion of the championship.
