IU Announces Additions To Athletics Media Relations Staff

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana Director of Athletics Media Relations J.D. Campbell has announced the addition of four members to the staff, effective immediately. Matt Brady, Kyle Kuhlman and Melanie Schneider will serve as assistant directors, and Nate Wiechers joins the staff as the media relations assistant.
Brady, who served as a staff assistant during the 2006-07 season for the Hoosiers, will be the primary contact for IU women's soccer and baseball.
He came to Bloomington after serving one year as a graduate intern at Northeastern University in Boston, Mass., where he oversaw the volleyball and women's hockey teams. While at NU, Brady ran the operations on press row for the 2006 Women's Hockey East Tournament, as well as being the official scorekeeper for the Men's Hockey East Tournament. He has also worked in athletic media relations at Eastern New Mexico University, in Portales, N.M., and Amherst College, in Amherst, Mass.
Brady is a 2004 graduate of the University of Massachusetts, where he received Bachelor of Science degrees in journalism and in sport management. He resides in Bloomington with his wife, Kerry.
Kuhlman enters his first year at Indiana as the primary contact for volleyball, men's and women's tennis and wrestling.
A 2005 graduate of Bowling Green State University, Kuhlman spent the last two seasons as a graduate assistant in the sports information department at BGSU. He was the primary contact for the Falcons' baseball and volleyball programs, as well as the secondary contact for men's basketball. Prior to his graduate assistantship at Bowling Green, Kuhlman spent the summer of 2005 as a public relations intern for the Toledo Mud Hens minor league baseball organization. Kuhlman also assisted ESPN personnel with in-game production of the 2006 Triple-A All-Star game held at Fifth/Third Bank Park in Toledo.
Kuhlman completed his master's degree in sport administration in May 2007.
Schneider joins the Hoosier staff after spending the last eight years as an assistant director of athletics media relations at Akron. She will serve as the primary contact for Indiana men's soccer, men's and women's swimming and diving and women's golf.
While at Akron, Schneider served as the primary contact for men's soccer, women's basketball and softball, and as the secondary contact for football. She also spent time as the men's basketball (1999-00), women's soccer (2001), men's and women's cross country (1999-03) and track and field (1999-03) contact for the Zips. Prior to her time at Akron, Schneider was an athletics media relations intern at Fresno State during the 1998-99 season.
Schneider graduated from Northwestern University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism.
Wiechers will serve as the primary contact for field hockey, rowing, water polo and softball for the Hoosiers after spending the 2006-07 season as a media relations assistant at Villanova.
At Villanova, Wiechers was the primary contact for volleyball, softball, swimming and diving and crew. He also assisted with media relations at select Philadelphia 76ers home games. Wiechers also brings minor league experience to Indiana as he spent the 2006 season as the public relations intern for the Toledo Mud Hens.
Wiechers is a 2006 graduate of Bowling Green State where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in sports management. At BGSU, he was a volunteer student manager for the Falcon men's basketball team between 2003-05 and worked in the university's sports information office.
