Freshman Charlotte Martin used a 6-3, 6-0 win to take the Singles Flight Five championship while Sophomore Erin Clark recorded a finals win in Singles Flight Seven. Senior Brianna Williams and Freshman Maria Guerreiro both competed in Singles Flight Six and each advanced to the finals. Instead of playing each other, they swapped semifinals opponents, and both earned wins in the "finals."
"It was a very, very successful weekend," said Head Coach Lin Loring. "We learned a lot about our team and that was our main goal going down there, and we won a lot matches as well."
Indiana dominated the doubles competition, winning both doubles flights. Williams teamed with Freshman Kate Zapadalova to go 4-0 en route to the Doubles Flight One title. The tandem of Clark and Guerreiro seized the Doubles Flight Two crown with an 8-4 in the finals.
"We were especially pleased with winning both flights of doubles," said Loring. "Our doubles teams are all new have been only been playing together for about a week. This was the second tournament of the season for some of these teams, so it was nice to come out and win both flights."
Sophomore Lindsey Stuckey and Martin paired up to earn a third place finish in the Double Flight Two as well. Overall, the trio of Williams, Guerreiro and Clark posted seven wins and no losses (3-0 in singles, 4-0 in doubles) over the weekend.
For the weekend, the Cream and Crimson posted a 21-7 singles mark and a 15-5 record in doubles action.
