BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Senior Gabrielle Allison is playing in her fourth and final season with the Hoosiers this year. The New Palestine, Indiana native was voted as one of two co-captains by her teammates for the '07 campaign.
"Gabby," as her teammates call her, took a few minutes to sit down with iuhoosiers.com recently for this week's edition of 10 Questions with ...
1. Why did you choose to come to IU?
The atmosphere is great here and when I came on my visit, the team made me feel really welcome.
2. How did this past weekend go at the University of Tennessee Tournament, and what are your impressions of the 2007 season overall thus far?
Our defense has definitely picked up. Our mental attitude toward the game has gotten better and we have more of a will to win.
3. What are your expectations for this weekend's tournament at Valparaiso University?
We are looking to take the tournament and win all three matches. We need to improve our defense on the tips, because that's where we have been struggling.
4. Where is your favorite place to go on the Bloomington campus and why?
I really like the student union. It's a great place to relax and take a nap.
5. What is your favorite part about the travel of IU volleyball?
I really like the university planes. They are very convenient as opposed to buses that take longer and might break down.
6. What is your proudest volleyball moment?
My proudest volleyball moment is when I pounded the ten-foot line, ending our spring season this past year.
7. How did it feel being voted a captain by your teammates?
I was very excited when I was voted captain by my teammates. It's nice that they trust me and that I am one of their leaders; and I hope to lead them to many victories this season.
8. You are majoring in biology, what are your plans after graduation?
I plan to go into research while also having the option of going to get my Master's and a Ph.D. Med school may also be a possibility in the future for me.
9. What do you like best about playing for Head Coach Sherry Dunbar and the rest of the new coaching staff?
I like our coaching staff because they know how to push us. They definitely have a great outlook and always push us to win and to compete no matter the score.
10. If you could play any other collegiate sport, what would it be and why?
I would definitely play basketball, because that is what I was planning on playing before I chose volleyball.
