BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Redshirt sophomore Jordan Kyle finished first as the Indiana men's cross country team opened the season with the Indiana Invitational on the IU Cross Country Championship Course in Bloomington on Saturday, Sept. 8. The meet marked the first for the Hoosiers under head coach Ron Helmer.
Kyle crossed the finish line at 26:03 to win the men's 8K race. Junior Timothy McLeod was on his heels as he finished just one second later with a time of 26:04. Freshman Jacob Rich placed fifth with time of 26:38, redshirt junior Mark Fruin crossed the finish line in 26:39 for sixth, freshman Cole Hardacre placed seventh with a time of 26:40 and redshirt junior Brennon Plotner finished eighth with a time of 26:41.
Also competing for the Hoosiers were redshirt sophomore Tyler McCreary (14th, 27:56), redshirt junior Paul Coover (15th, 28:16), redshirt sophomore Tom Martin (17th, 28:29) and redshirt freshman Seth Ball (18th, 29:22).
The meet also included IUPUI's men's team, who placed two runners in the top 10, including Brad Wheeler (3rd, 26:33).
The Hoosiers are back in action on Friday, Sept. 14 when they compete at the Indiana Intercollegiates, which will be held in West Lafayette, Ind.
