• The Hoosiers have won five of the last six meetings between the two teams in Bloomington.
• Indiana extended its home-court winning streak to 27 games, the fourth-longest active streak in the country and in school history. Kelvin Sampson improved to 25-0 in Assembly Hall, matching Branch McCracken's school record for most consecutive home wins to start a career.
• The Hoosiers have a 10-game winning streak for the 22nd time in school history. The current streak is the longest since IU won 13 in a row in 1992-93.
• Indiana is 3-0 in the Big Ten for the first time since 2001-02, when it started 4-0 in conference play en route to a national championship game appearance that season.
• After the Illini hit their first six shots of the game to take a 13-4 lead, the Hoosier defense held them 0-for-7 over the next 3:58 to put together a 11-0 run and take a 15-13 lead.
• Midway through the second half, the Hoosiers switched to a four-guard set and promptly went on a 10-0 run to turn a 45-39 Illini lead into a 49-45 edge for the home team over a three-minute stretch. The Hoosiers held Illinois without a field goal between the 13:22 and 5:53 marks of the second half, as U of I shot 0-for-6 over that stretch.
• For the third consecutive game between the two teams, the margin of victory was four points. The Hoosiers won 65-61 on Feb. 12, 2007, and Illinois took a 58-54 decision on March 9, 2007.
• D.J. White notched his fourth consecutive double-double for the Hoosiers, scoring 15 points and adding 10 rebounds. Over the last 11 games, White has notched 10 double-doubles and has averaged 18.5 points and 13.0 rebounds for the Hoosiers.
• Eric Gordon scored 17 points for the Hoosiers, including a 8-for-10 performance from the free-throw line. It marked the fourth time in the last five games that Gordon has gone to the line 10 or more times.
• After missing the Michigan game with an injury, Armon Bassett returned to action for the Hoosiers and had 11 points on 3-for-5 shooting in the game. All 11 of his points came in the second half. His 3-pointer in the final minute gave IU a crucial 60-55 lead and he added a pair of free throws with two seconds left to seal the Hoosier victory.
• Mike White was a dominant force on the boards in the first half, grabbing five rebounds including three on the offensive glass. The senior finished with four points and six rebounds in the game.
• A.J. Ratliff had a season-high seven points for Indiana, hitting a pair of 3-pointers and adding three rebounds in the game. Ratliff added a crucial block and a steal on Illinois' last possession, swatting Demetri McCamey to preserve the Hoosier win.
• Jordan Crawford scored four points and had four rebounds in the game, while Jamarcus Ellis also had four and four for the Hoosiers.
• Lance Stemler and DeAndre Thomas each grabbed a rebound for the Hoosiers.
