Nothing brings a team together like a little healthy competition, and that is exactly what the Hoosiers women's golf team did on Jan. 25 as it held its annual Iron Chef night. The special ingredient was potato.
The nine-person squad was split up into three teams with three members each. Team Spud (Lauren Giesecke, Elaine Harris and Laura Nochta) put together a meal of steak kabobs, mashed potatoes, homemade potato chips and a brownie desert.
Team Mr. Potato Head consisted of Kellye Belcher, Carly Brey and Amber Lindgren. This team served pork, a chunky mashed potato, potato pancakes and an apple dumpling.
The final team, also known as the Three Tasty 'Taters, served a pork tenderloin, chorizo and potato quesadilla, caesar salad, sweet potato casserole and an apple crisp. Lauren Harling, Anita Gahir and Emily Johnson were the chefs.
After much deliberation by the four-person judging panel, it was determined that the Three Tasty 'Taters were the victors. However, there were no real losers as all the dishes were sampled and enjoyed by everyone in attendance.
