adidas to Sponsor 2008 Hoosier Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana men's golf head coach Mike Mayer announced on Tuesday that adidas will sponsor the 2008 Hoosier Invitational. The event will be held at the Indiana University Championship Golf Course on March 29-30.

"We are extremely pleased adidas has agreed to sponsor the Hoosier Invitational," Mayer said. "This is a win-win situation for both adidas and Indiana University, and we are proud to add adidas to this great tournament."

Sixteen teams will join IU at the Hoosier Invitational. This is the second year of the event, as Indiana hosted the inaugural tournament on Sept. 27-28, 2003.

The Hoosiers earned the team title back in 2003, blowing away the field by 33 strokes. IU placed four players in the top 10, led by former two-time All-American and PGA TOUR member Jeff Overton. He shot 203 (65-69-69) to hold off teammate Mike Birkenfeld by five shots. Ryan Cassidy shared fifth place, while Heath Peters tied for seventh.
