Cain is Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - For the final time this season, Indiana University senior goalkeeper Chay Cain is the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Cain earns the honor after leading the Hoosiers to a 2-0 shutout of then-No. 8 Northwestern last Friday. Cain became just the fourth goalkeeper this season to keep the Wildcats off the board, picking up his sixth shutout this year. Cain ranks seventh on IU's career shutout list, sixth in saves (194) and ninth in career wins (35).
Earlier this year, Cain was also honored by the conference with its weekly award after helping to post a 3-0 shutout of then-No. 24 UCLA on the road. Cain is 4-0-2 against top-25 opponents this season, with shutouts in five of those six matches.
The Hoosiers are back in action this Thursday as they start play at the Big Ten Tournament in Madison, Wis. Indiana is the No. 3 seed and will face No. 6 Ohio State at 1 p.m. CT. The winner of that match will go on to face the winner of No. 2 Michigan/No. 7 Wisconsin on Friday at 1:30 p.m. CT.
