Hoosiers Finalize Spring Trip Schedule

Complete 2009 Schedule
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana baseball team has finalized its opponents for the 2009 spring trip to Florida, Head Coach Tracy Smith announced today. The Hoosiers will take on seven opponents in Clearwater from March 14-21 and will also have a road game against Stetson during the team's trip to Florida over spring break.
Game times and field locations for the games at Clearwater are yet to be finalized. The Hoosiers open the weeklong event with a game against Bowling Green on Saturday, March 14, and then take on Jacksonville State on Sunday, March 15. IU will follow that up with games against Northern Iowa and Eastern Illinois on March 16 and 17, respectively.
IU then heads to Deland, Fla., for a matchup with the Hatters. Stetson has traditionally been a power in the Atlantic Sun conference, winning 42 games and reaching the NCAA Tournament in 2007. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m. ET at Melching Field at Conrad Park.
Indiana closes out its trip to Florida with two games against Northeast squads and a familiar foe. IU will take on Hartford, led by head coach and former Indiana assistant Jeff Calcaterra, on Thursday, March 19. The Hoosiers will then take on Ohio State in a non-conference affair on Friday, in what is the only regular-season contest between IU and the Buckeyes. Indiana closes out its trip to Clearwater with a game against Central Connecticut State on Saturday, March 21.
Indiana opens the 2008 season against West Virginia in the Big Ten/BIG EAST Challenge on Feb. 20 in St. Petersburg, Fla.
