THE OPENING TIP
AGAINST THE IVY LEAGUE
This will be the first meeting between the Hoosiers and the Big Red, who hail from the Ivy League. All-time, IU holds an 8-3 mark against the Ivy League with three wins over Penn and two wins against Princeton. The last time IU played an Ivy League opponent was Nov. 20, 1996 when Princeton paid a visit to Bloomington. In that game, IU pulled out a 59-49 win over the Tigers.
IS PRITCHARD TOP BIG TEN ROOKIE
Freshman Tom Pritchard is the lone Big Ten freshman to be ranked in scoring (10th, 14.4), rebounds (4th, 7.6) and field goal percentage (7th, 59.6).
HOOSIER TIES FOR THE BIG RED
Cornell's Ryan Wittman is the son of former IU All-American Randy Wittman. Currently the head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Randy is IU's all-time leader in games played (133) and is 13th on the Hoosier all-time scoring list (1,549 points). Adam Gore's great uncle is legendary Hoosier Coach Branch McCracken, and Adam Wire's great grandfather played for Coach McCracken.
THE COACHES
Indiana named Tom Crean as its 28th men's basketball coach on April 2, 2008 and he is 3-2 with the Hoosiers. He came to Indiana from Marquette where he was 190-96 (66.4) in nine seasons and made five NCAA Tournament appearances, including the 2003 Final Four. And just like the Hoosiers, Crean has never coached against Cornell in his career as a head coach. Big Red head coach Steve Donahue is in his ninth year as head coach of Cornell is 100-125.
UP NEXT Indiana will take part in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Dec. 3 when the Hoosiers travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. to take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The game will be on ESPN.
