BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Second-year student-athletes have the opportunity to join the Indiana Athletics Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) and get hands-on experience in becoming a leader.
ELP is dedicated to identifying and developing the leadership potential in first and second-year student-athletes at Indiana University. The five (5) week program focuses on a variety of leadership topics presented in a highly interactive format of seminars, guest speakers, and small group projects that are centered around the complex phenomenon of leadership. The program's focus is to assist student-athletes develop practical skills that will aid them in their leadership development.
Student-athletes will have/or be able to do the following after their participation in the Emerging Leaders Program (ELP):
• Develop their personal vision and goals
• Demonstrate the importance of team building in creating high functioning teams
• Express what it means to be an ethical leader
• Explain the relationship between their involvement with intercollegiate athletics and leadership
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication
• Sharpen their critical thinking skills
• Identify their own preferred leadership style
