BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana University women's tennis team hit the road for the first time this spring at No. 19 Wake Forest. Indiana nearly rose to the challenge in a 4-3 setback against the Demon Deacons to begin play before bouncing back for a 5-2 triumph over UNC-Greensboro.
After Wake Forest grabbed the doubles point, Indiana's Alba Berdala evened the team score at one point apiece with a 6-2, 6-4 win in the No. 1 singles slot. Lindsey Stuckey was the next Hoosier to finish, putting the Cream and Crimson ahead 2-1. The Greensboro, N.C. native rode the momentum of a first-set tiebreaker victory into a straight set win at No. 5 singles, 7-6, 6-2.
Freshman Charlotte Martin continued the Hoosier hot streak at No. 3 singles. She also came out on top in a first-set tiebreaker en route to a straight set victory. The Demon Deacons bounced back, however, winning the final three singles matches to earn the 4-3 win.
