Indiana Game Notes
Indiana vs. Ohio State
2-26-08
• With the win, Indiana improved to 101-72 all-time against the Buckeyes, including a 29-5 mark in Assembly Hall. IU swept the season series against OSU for the first time since winning all three matchups in the 1997-98 season.
• Indiana won its 16th game at Assembly Hall, a new record in the facility, eclipsing the previous mark of 15 set in 1986-87, 1992-93 and 2006-07.
• After the Buckeyes scored the first points of the game with a Kosta Koufos three, the Hoosiers went on a 18-4 run to take an 11-point lead with 11:06 to play in the opening half. The Hoosiers did not trail from that point forward.
• The Hoosier defense came out strong at the beginning of the game, holding the Buckeyes to 2-for-11 shooting over the first nine minutes of the game.
• Indiana improved to 33-4 when leading at the half and 32-5 when outrebounding an opponent over the last two seasons.
• IU posted 17 or more offensive rebounds for the third time in Big Ten play and the seventh time this season. The Hoosiers' 16 second-chance points in conference play were only bested this season by 20 at Michigan.
• Interim head coach Dan Dakich improved to 2-0 in his Hoosier tenure, winning his first game in Assembly Hall as IU's head coach. He is 158-140 in his 11th season as a head coach.
• Armon Bassett had 23 points, shooting 7-for-11 from the field and 4-for-8 from 3-point range. It was his third straight game with four or more 3-balls, as he is averaging 21.0 points in IU's last three contests. The sophomore had 24 points at Northwestern, giving him back-to-back 20-point games for the first time in his career.
• Eric Gordon had 17 points for Indiana, furthering his freshman record with 577 points. That total puts him in a tie for 20th place on the Hoosiers' single-season list, as he matched the mark set by Greg Graham in 1992-93 and Mike Woodson in 1977-78. He passed Steve Downing, Ted Kitchel, Randy Wittman and A.J. Guyton on the list.
• Gordon also had six rebounds, matching a career high. He added three assists and three steals and was 8-for-9 from the free-throw line.
• For the 17th time this season, D.J. White scored IU's first points of the game. Indiana improved to 15-2 when White scores first. With eight rebounds, White moved into 15th place with 697 career rebounds, passing Calbert Cheaney. He added 16 points and two blocks in the contest.
• Jordan Crawford scored nine points and added two rebounds, two assists and a steal in the victory. Lance Stemler had six rebounds and had a key putback with just over four minutes to play to stretch IU's lead to seven points.
• Jamarcus Ellis continued his strong all-around play with five points and seven rebounds for the Hoosiers. Kyle Taber had four rebounds in 11 minutes.
