IU Cross Country Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana men's and women's cross country programs were honored by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) with All-Academic honors.
The women's team posted a team grade point average (GPA) of 3.72, the third highest in the nation. IU also had nine Hoosiers on the women's Academic All-Big Ten list for the 2007 season.
In 2007, 158 Division I women's programs received the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors. There are 325 teams in Division I that sponsor women's cross country. Of the 158 teams on the list, 35 of them had team GPAs over 3.50. The Big Ten posted nine teams on the all-academic list.
The men recorded a team GPA of 3.15 and boasted six runners on the Academic All-Big Ten list this past fall.
Overall, 98 men's Division I programs received the USTFCCCA's academic honor, which is just under a third of all Division schools that sponsor men's cross country (299). Of the 31 teams in the NCAA Championship field, 16 earned all-academic team honors. The Hoosiers placed 28th as a team at the 2007 national championship with a final team score of 618 points.
The Big Ten posted six men's teams on the all-academic list.
For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, they must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Meet. The team must also have a minimum 3.00 team cumulative grade point average.
