Tennis Doubleheader on Sunday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana University women's tennis team (4-1) hosts a doubleheader on Sunday inside the IU Tennis Complex. The Hoosiers are coming off a 4-3 winner over the Kentucky Wildcats last Saturday. On the docket for this weekend are a pair of matches against Eagles. First, is a 10 a.m. contest versus the Golden Eagles of Marquette, followed by a 3 p.m. showdown with Morehead State Eagles.
Both opponents are coming off victories as well. Marquette swept Ball State while Morehead State downed Bellarmine, 6-1. Live match updates will be available via the women's tennis schedule page on IUHoosiers.com.
BRI-WIN-A Williams
Senior captain Brianna Williams had provided the Hoosiers at least one point every dual match this season, going 5-0 in her singles match. Williams most impressive triumph was a 6-3, 6-2 decision over No. 99 Amanda Granson from Duke. The Tampa, Fla. native has also been a big part of Indiana's four doubles point victories, teaming up with Myriam Sopel for a 4-1 mark in doubles action.
ITA NATIONAL RANKINGS
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released their national rankings on Tuesday, and the Hoosiers are slotted 26th in the country. Northwestern (#3) and Michigan (#24) join the Hoosiers in the top-30, representing the Big Ten Conference.
Other top-30 opponents on Indiana's spring schedule include: Duke (#15), Notre Dame (T-#19), Wake Forest (T-#19), Tennessee (#21) and Kentucky (#28).
BERDALA DOWNS RANKED FOES
Junior Alba Berdla earned her second win over a nationally-ranked opponent this year during the Kentucky match. She defeated No. 69 Sarah Woestmann by a score of 7-5, 6-2. In the fall, No. 99 Dunja Antunovic of DePaul fell victim to Berdala, 6-2, 7-5.
