Stechschulte Takes Fourth at USA Combined Events Championships

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Senior Abbie Stechschulte competed in the USA Indoor Combined Events Championships on March 9, finishing fourth in the pentathlon. Stechschulte competed unattached as she has throughout the indoor season.
Stechschulte matched her career best score at the championships, recording 4,088 points. The score was just 36 points shy of the third place finisher Ryanne DuPree. Stechschulte finished first in the shot put, recording a heave of 12.61m, which was 60 centimeters better than her closest competitor. The senior also recorded a career best in the 60m hurdles, finishing in 8.52 seconds. The mark cut .08 seconds off of her previous best, 8.60 seconds.
Stechschulte transferred to Indiana for her final season after winning two BIG EAST championships and earning All-American status at West Virginia under current IU associate head coach Jeff Huntoon. The senior has eligibility for the outdoor season and will dawn the Cream and Crimson.
