BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's basketball team received an at-large bid as one of 48 teams for the 2008 Postseason Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT), which was announced on Monday, March 17.
Indiana (18-14) continues postseason action after entering the Big Ten Tournament as the six seed. The Hoosiers defeated the 11th-seeded Northwestern Wildcats, 74-52, before falling to third seed and eventual Big Ten Tournament Champion Purdue, 64-54.
The Hoosiers are 6-4 all-time in the WNIT and 4-0 when playing in Assembly Hall. Last season, IU opened the second round of the tournament with a 74-71 win over Iona on March 19 in Bloomington before falling at South Dakota State, 60-53, on March 22.
This season marks the second consecutive year that IU head coach Felisha Legette-Jack has led the Hoosiers to the postseason event. Legette-Jack also picked up WNIT experience in 2005-06 when she led Hofstra University to the program's first-ever trip to the tournament.
Tickets to see the Hoosiers in action on Saturday are $6 for adults, $4 for IU students with a valid University ID and youth ages 18 and under. All fans regardless of age must have a ticket for admission.
Tip-off on Saturday is set for 7:05 p.m. ET. For more information and to order tickets, fans may contact the IU Athletics Ticket Office at 1-866-IUSPORTS or visit IUHoosiers.com.
