With the win, Indiana improved to 11-3 overall and 1-1 in the conference. Senior Michael McCarthy notched his team-leading 11th singles win of the dual season.
The Hoosiers controlled the doubles play, sweeping all three contests. Peter Antons and Santiago Gruter grabbed a "W" for the 10th time out of 11 dual matches and 19th doubles victory overall while playing together. Hoosier tandems of Phillip Eilers/Lachlan Ferguson and Thomas Richter/Dara McLoughlin also topped their Minnesota foes in doubles action.
The singles lineup was extremely tight as four of the six matches went into a third set while first singles ended in a close 7-6, 7-5 tally in favor of the Golden Gophers. With wins at No. 1 and No. 4 singles, Minnesota took a 2-1 one lead. Indiana came out on top of three of those four three-setters, however, to earn the 4-3 team triumph.
McCarthy and Phillip Eilers each bounced back from opening set losses to seize the final two sets and the match. McCarthy was a 5-7, 7-6, 6-2 winner over Chi Pham and Eilers downed Sebastian Gallego by a score of 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.
True freshman Santiago Gruter also arose victorious in his three-set affair, notching his fifth win in his last six singles contests. He sandwiched a 2-6 second set loss in between 6-3 and 6-2 wins in the first and last sets.
