BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's soccer team scored an impressive, 1-0 victory over Kentucky in the squad's first outdoor game of the spring season. Kristin Arnold scored a brilliant goal and Lauren Hollandsworth posted a shutout in the victory.
Arnold gave the Hoosiers all the offense they would need in the 1-0 triumph. Midway through the first half, Kelly Lawrence sent a ball forward off a free kick. Arnold settled under it, whirled and blasted a shot low past the keeper to put the Hoosiers up 1-0 on the Wildcats. It was the rising junior's second goal of the spring.
On the defensive end, Hollandsworth and Lawrence were magnificent as the Hoosiers were playing without starters Jessica Boots and Taylor Fallon due to injuries. Hollandsworth made a number of huge saves to lift the visitors to the victory as IU improved to 2-0-1 during the spring.
Indiana returns to action on Saturday when it takes on Women's College Cup participant Notre Dame in Fort Wayne at 2:30 p.m.
