Alex Wilson Invite Results - Day One
SOUTH BEND, Ind.- Three Hoosiers competed on day one of the Alex Wilson Invitational on Friday. The meet is taking place in the Loftus Center on Notre Dame's campus. Only ten events competed on day one of the meet.
Sophomore Ashley Rhoades led the way for the Hoosiers, winning the high jump event with a mark of 1.73m (5'-8). The mark matches the sophomore's career best, which she recorded on Jan. 13 at the Indiana Open. Rhoades is within five centimeters of the NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
Senior Paul Fearnow finished third in the weight throw with a toss of 17.94m. His heave was 1.20m better than the fourth place finisher, Greg Davis of Notre Dame. Fearnow was recently awarded with the Big Ten Sportsmanship award.
Senior Tyler Skelton finished seventh in the long jump, recording a mark of 6.89m. Skelton just edged out Ryme Mackinson of Wisconsin for seventh, bettering Mackinson's mark by one centimeter.
The meet will continue at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Day two of the meet will consist of 25 events. Stay tuned to IUHOOSIERS.com as results and a recap of tomorrow's competition will be available as soon as possible.
