BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Fresh off its second title of the season, the Indiana men's golf team moved up to No. 18 in Golfstat's rankings. The Hoosiers are currently the top-ranked Big Ten team and the only conference squad in the top 25.
IU earned a five-shot victory at the UMB Bank-Mizzou Tiger Classic in Columbia, Mo., on April 7-8. The Hoosiers closed the tournament at 881 (294-286-301), holding off an 11-team field with five clubs ranked in the top 40.
Jorge Campillo became the second Hoosier to earn medalist honors this season and picked up the fourth championship of his career. The junior paced the 70-player field with a 4-under-par 212.
Campillo earned his first Big Ten Golfer of the Week honor of his career following his victory. He has six league awards in his career and he joined Seth Brandon as the second Hoosier to receive league accolades this year.
Up next, Indiana faces one more challenge before the 2008 Big Ten Championships. The team travels to West Lafayette, Ind., for the Boilermaker Invitational on Saturday-Sunday, April 19-20.
