BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's water polo team will begin play today at the CWPA Eastern Championships with a match against the University of Maryland at 3:30 p.m. in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Hoosiers and Terrapins have squared off twice already this season with Indiana coming out on top in both cases.
Indiana (19-14) claimed an 11-7 win in the first meeting at the Princeton Inviational on Feb. 16 and then came back to defeat the Terps in their own pool, 10-9, as part of the Elite Six Tournament in College Park, Md.
The Hoosiers' offense has been on fire lately, scoring at least 13 goals in seven of their last nine games, including a 22-goal outburst against Slippery Rock in the quarterfinals of the Western Division Championships. In that game, the Hoosiers also set a school record with 22 assists in that game, besting the previous high of 19. And the 22 goals were just one shy of the single-game school record set last season against Penn State-Behrend in the Western Championships.
