Defense Gives Indiana Win Over Grove City

ERIE, Pa. - The Indiana women's water polo team completed its three-game sweep of CWPA Western Division opponents on Saturday with a 13-3 win at Grove City. Earlier in the day IU downed Penn State Behrend and Mercyhurst and now sit at 4-1 in conference play with two more games looming on Sunday.
Grove City battled the 17th ranked Hoosiers to a 1-1 draw through the first eight minutes but the Indiana defense buckled down in period number two to shutout the Wolverines and take a 5-1 lead into halftime.
The offense continued to roll along in the third and fourth periods while the defense kept Grove City at bay by allowing three goals combined in the two periods.
Brooke Zimmerman paced IU with three goals in the game while Lauren Wyckoff, Nicole Redder and Kara Butler all scored twice. Rounding out the scoring for Indiana were Kate Dunn, Kelsey Campbell, Kelly Palmberg and Nora Kennelly with one goal apiece.
The Hoosiers will bring the regular season to a close on Sunday with games at Slippery Rock at 9 a.m. and Washington and Jefferson at 1 p.m.
