BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's soccer team played a strong contest against 2007 Women's College Cup squad Notre Dame, but the Irish used a strong second half to come away with a 2-0 victory at the Women's Soccer Spring Fling on Saturday. The two squads fought to a scoreless first half before ND pulled away. Indiana is now 2-1-1 in its spring schedule.
The Hoosiers continue their rigorous spring schedule with a contest against Senior Women's Team F.C. Indiana on Saturday. The game will be played at Kuntz Field in Indianapolis as part of the 2008 Indiana Soccer Showcase. It caps off a stellar day of soccer that features five different games, with the IU-FC Indiana contest set to kick off at 7 p.m. EDT.
Indiana was ranked 21st in the final National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll of the 2007 season. The Hoosiers finished the season 13-7-3, including a trip to the third round of the NCAA Tournament, the furthest the Hoosiers had ever gone in the postseason. The Hoosiers return eight starters from last year's team.
