BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana long snapper Tim Bugg has signed a two-year rookie free agent deal with the Cincinnati Bengals. Bugg is the fourth Hoosier to catch on with an NFL team in 2008.
Cornerback Tracy Porter and wide receiver James Hardy were each selected in the second round of the NFL Draft. The New Orleans Saints took Porter with the 40th pick, while the Buffalo Bills picked Hardy in the 41st slot. Cornerback Leslie Majors signed a three-year rookie free agent deal with the Chicago Bears last month.
Bugg, a three-year starter for the Hoosiers, was a pivotal part of the Indiana special teams unit in 2007. Serving as the team's long snapper on punts, field goals and extra points, IU converted all 49 extra points and 21-of-23 field goals in 2007. He played in 31 games during his Hoosier career.
