BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana volleyball player Martyna Popik is making a trip back to her home in Poland over the next few weeks. Hoosiers fans will have an opportunity to follow along and get to know where Popik came from as she will be periodically checking in with IUHoosiers.com, sharing blogs and photos from her travels.
Popik is the first international player in IU Volleyball history and earned a letter last fall during her freshman season. She started her 16-hour journey to Poland on Wednesday, April 30. Below is the first installment of "Popik's Postcard"...
"I made it! After 16 hours of travel from Bloomington to Indianapolis to Washington D.C. and then to Frankfurt in Germany - greetings to Thomas Richter and Phillip Eilers from the IU tennis team (both are from Germany), and finally to Poland! All the flights were too long, I can't feel my knees at all. A lot of people on the plane and at the airport asked if I was a volleyball player. I was very proud to represent IU off the court, even in Germany.
"It's good to be home and see my family after being overseas for about four months. My little bro has changed so much! On Christmas he was my height, and right now he's much taller. I'm so excited to be here. I will take a lot of pictures, so I can share them with you guys. My hometown of Bielsko-Biala is so beautiful at this time of the year. The weather is very similar to Bloomington's."
Be sure to check back here at IUHoosiers.com in the coming weeks to hear all about Popik's voyage and view several photo galleries of the trip.
