BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -
Former Indiana field hockey standout Kayla Bashore was officially named as one of the 16 players that will represent the United States in the Olympic Games in Beijing this August. USA Field Hockey made the announcement on Sunday at the conclusion of the Women’s National Championship in Virginia Beach, Va.
Bashore, a native of Shoemakersville, Pa., played for the Hoosiers from 2001-03 and then redshirted in 2004 before returning in 2005 for her senior season. In her five years, Bashore received All-America status twice and currently sits in second place on the career goals scored list with 23. In her senior season, she was named Big Ten Player of the Year after scoring 12 goals and recording 29 points, both the second-best single-season totals in IU field hockey history.
The U.S. team will begin pool play in Beijing on Sunday, August 10 against Argentina.
