BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -
Indiana University Volleyball fans will see eight new faces this fall, comprising of a five-women freshman class, two transfers and a new assistant coach in Keith Schunzel. With summer orientations well underway IUHOOSIERS.com recently tracked down all five freshmen and Western Kentucky transfer Hayley Koetter to ask them a few questions..
Hayley Koetter:
Why did you choose Indiana?
"I loved it from the first time I went. The team is great, it has a beautiful camps and great tradition."
If someone played you in a movie, who would it be and why?
"Catherine Zeta-Jones because she is always polite and doesn't need to be the center of attention all the time. She is confident and respectful."
What is your favorite IU athletic event to attend (besides volleyball)?
"Basketball."
Who is your favorite sports figure?
"Mia Ham."
Name two things you love about Bloomington.
"Pretty campus and a college town with a fun atmosphere."
Why did you choose Indiana?
"There is an incredibly motivated volleyball team and staff at IU, a beautiful campus and a great business school. To sum it up ... I chose IU because it was the perfect fit."
What is your favorite pre-match music/song?
"Go DJ by Lil Wayne."
Name on thing many people don't know about you.
"I always sleep with socks on, I can't sleep without them."
What is your favorite thing about IU Volleyball?
"The commitment and dedication to achieving excellence."
Name two things you love about Bloomington.
"The immense Hoosier spirit of the community and the breath-taking campus."
Why did you choose Indiana?
"I love Bloomington and how it is a good distance from my family. The combination of the coaches, players and school just felt at home and comfortable."
What is your favorite pre-match music/song?
"We Ready by Archy."
What is one thing you couldn't live without?
"My cell phone or blankey, depends on the day."
Name one thing many people don't know about you.
"I love, love, love Fazoli's."
What is your favorite thing about IU Volleyball?
"The program is on an upswing and I cannot wait to be a part of that."
Danielle LaGrange:
Why did you choose Indiana?
"My whole life I grew up loving Indiana. My entire family are huge fans of Indiana and to have the opportunity to play a sport here is awesome to me."
What is your favorite pre-match music/song?
"Rock always gets me pumped up, such as AC/DC or Guns and Roses."
What is your favorite place on campus?
"The gym because that is where I am at home."
Name one thing many people don't know about you.
"I can play the piano."
What is your favorite inspirational quote?
"Respect everyone; fear no one."
Why did you choose Indiana?
"I'm from Cincinnati so it's close to home, but not too close. My dad can still come to my home matches and that was important to me. I met Coach Dunbar at the IU summer camp and I loved her. Every question I asked she answered as if she were reading the ideal response from my mind. At the end of talking with her, I knew I wanted to be here."
What is your favorite sports movie?
"Remember the Titans."
If someone played you in a movie, who would it be and why?
"Maybe Cameron Diaz. I love her, but don't know if she could capture the more serious side of me. People say I look like Gwenyth Paltrow, but I think I'm close to Cameron."
Name one thing many people don't know about you.
"I have a phobia of being in open water. Swimming pools are fine, but not lakes or oceans where fish and other things live, I freak out."
What is your favorite thing about IU Volleyball?
"I love that we have our own gym. The school really appreciates the sport andn cares if we do well."
What is your favorite sports movie?
"I have two: D2 Mighty Ducks and Double Teamed."
What is one thing you couldn't live without?
"My video iPod."
Who is your favorite sports figure?
"Wilma Rudolph."
What is your favorite thing about IU Volleyball?
"The chemistry within the team."
What is your favorite inspirational quote?
"It is not how you start the racel it is how you finish it."
