Bloomington, Indiana - Chad Hawley, who was scheduled to begin duties as the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance at Indiana, has informed the University that he has decided to remain as Assistant Commissioner for Compliance with the Big Ten Conference.
"With respect to my decision not to go to IU, suffice it to say that I was really looking forward to working with Rick Greenspan," said Hawley. "After his resignation, I re-evaluated the situation and decided it was best to stay in my current position. My decision had nothing to do with the failure-to-monitor allegation."
Prior to joining the Big Ten, Hawley held compliance positions with the Mid-Continent Conference and Ivy League, as well as at North Carolina State University and Appalachian State.
A 1998 graduate of Appalachian State, Hawley holds a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University in Chicago, and was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 2006.
IU is immediately beginning the process of finding a replacement to oversee compliance.
