During the offseason, Indiana postseason captains junior forward Whitney Thomas and freshman guard Jori Davis will give Hoosier fans an inside look at what the team does during the last few weeks of classes and over the summer to prepare for the upcoming season.
In this week's blog, Davis talks about how the second summer session is going with team workouts and activities.
The second summer session so far has been very productive, and I feel everyone has made major improvements. Whether it is basketball skills or conditioning, the ladies have and continue to work hard. This is my second time going through summer workouts so they seem easier, yet they are still physically and mentally draining with the early morning runs at six-thirty and a lift to finish it off. At times we get a little tired of the demanding workouts, but we constantly remind ourselves that its our time to be CHAMPIONS!! We will not be satisfied until we get to the gold.
To provide the team with an example of hard work and what it takes to be successful, Coach Jack had us read Standing Tall by Coach C. Vivian Stringer from Rutgers University. Her book is a wonderful example of how to overcome adversity. The team has read the book and wrote a response to Coach Jack. When we all return to campus, we will discuss the book and talk about how it relates to us as a team. Reading this book will have a positive impact on the team this season.
The team looks great and we are working hard to prepare ourselves for the season to come - Pursuing Championships. That's what we are all about!
