Balchan Named to 2008 Milk Cup Roster

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Rising Indiana men's soccer sophomore Rich Balchan received yet another call-up with the U.S. U-20 Men's National Team as one of 18 players selected to travel to Northern Ireland for the 2008 Milk Cup.
Balchan most recently played with the U-20s on July 11 in a 3-0 victory over Mexico in Laredo, Texas. He earned the start and played all 90 minutes on the back line, helping to preserve the shutout.
The U.S. begins Milk Cup play on July 28 against Northern Ireland and will face Wales on July 30. The tournament final is set for Friday, Aug. 1. Other countries participating in the Elite Section include Belgium, Israel and Chile.
Out of the 20 players on the roster, eight are either current college players or about to enter their first season of collegiate play.
Indiana begins its 2008 season on Aug. 20 with an exhibition match against Tulsa in St. Louis. Regular-season play opens on Aug. 29 as the Hoosiers take on ACC power Duke in the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic.
