Divers Begin Competition at Kaiser Permanente Summer Nationals

Pasadena, Calif. - Indiana University divers opened competition Tuesday at the 2008 Kaiser Permanente Summer National Championships being held at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center in Pasadena, Calif.
First on the schedule was the preliminary rounds for the men's and women's synchronized three-meter and platform. On the three-meter, IU senior Christina Loukas and partner Amanda Miller are currently second with a score of 250.80. Junior Amy Korthauer and alum Lindsay Weigle are fourth (237.60), followed by alum Cassandra Cardinell and sophomore Christina Kouklakis in seventh (215.91). Sophomore Heidi Mahnken and incoming freshman Marissa Johnson are 12th (192.78), followed by junior Brittney Feldman and incoming freshman Nicole Brehm in 13th (188.76).
On the platform it is Korthauer and Cardinell in third (216.24), with Feldman and Mahnken less than three points behind in fourth place (213.66). Weigle and Brehm are fifth (144.48).
In the men's competition, sophomore Landon Marzullo and recent graduate Taylor Roberts are second on the three-meter springboard with a score of 336.84. IU grad David Legler and incoming freshman Linus Altman-Kurosaki are fourth (307.11), with senior Will Bohonyi and sophomore Kris Hill 11th (242.25).
Marzullo and Legler currently lead the platform competition with a score of 342.00, while Bohonyi and Hill are third (300.18).
The competition runs through Sunday, with Wednesday's schedule featuring the women's three-meter springboard and men's one-meter springboard prelims.
