BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - A string of IU Volleyball camps came to an end last week after nearly 400 campers made the trip to Bloomington, nearly doubling last summer's total. The camps began on July 9 and ran through July 18.
"I was very pleased with our camps this summer," said Head Coach Sherry Dunbar. "Amanda Timmers (director of operations) and Keith Schunzel (assistant coach) put in a lot of work to make these camps worthwhile for players and teams looking to increase their level of play. They did a fantastic job!"
First up was the All Skills & Specialty Camp, which was designed to train the more experienced players for a specific position while developing the skills and understanding of the game for the less experienced group. Twenty-plus teams showed up for Team Camp, totaling approximately 200 participants. It all wrapped up on July 18 with the conclusion of the Commuter Camp.
Team-building functions, such as the `Hoosier Idol' talent show, were also a part of the IU Volleyball camp.
"We just about doubled our numbers from last year and that's exciting because we were able to expose all of those people to the great things going on here in our volleyball program," said Dunbar.
