ITA Collegiate Summer Circuit Regional Draws Released

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana University will host a leg of the 2008 Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) Collegiate Summer Circuit this weekend with play beginning on Saturday and running through Monday. Five IU men's student-athletes and two women's team members are expected to compete in the event.
Over 22,000 men and women have competed in circuit events since it began in 1993. The circuit is the brainchild of Indiana head women's tennis coach Lin Loring and provides college (and junior) players the opportunity to compete in organized events virtually year round. It is made up of seven regional circuits (East, Southeast, Midwest, Central, Mountain, Southwest and West) and six of the seven region consists of four consecutive open tournaments played during the month of July, leading up to the August 11-15 ITA National Summer Championships in Bloomington, Indiana. New in 2008 are two extra circuit events in the state of Colorado.
Representing Indiana this year for the men will be Peter Antons (alphabetical No. 5-6 seed), J.J. Bolock, Lachlan Ferguson (No. 3 seed),and Santiago Gruter (No. 4 seed). Antons and Gruter teamed up last weekend to win the doubles championship at the Western Michigan site of the summer circuit. Former Hoosier Dara McLoughlin is also set to compete, coming in as the No. 2 seed.
For the women, it will be Stephanie Heller and Lindsey Stuckey taking the courts. Heller advanced all the way to the finals a year ago at the Bloomington regional.
