BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Day two at the Bloomington ITA Collegiate Summer Circuit Regional saw the singles and doubles draws whittled down to the semifinals. Clear skies and warm weather made for pleasant playing conditions. Complete results and updated draws can be found below.
Four of the eight quarterfinalists in the men's championship bracket were either current or former Hoosiers as senior Peter Antons and sophomores Lachlan Ferguson and Santiago Gruter, along with Dara McLoughlin (2004-08) each won their first match on Sunday. Ferguson and McLoughlin then took it one step further by taking their second contest of the day as well. Those two will face off in the semifinals on Monday. Ferguson defeated Michigan's Matthew Parks, 6-1, 6-4, and McLoughlin eliminated Matt Walters from Arkansas in a third-set super tiebreaker victory, 10-6.
Incoming Hoosier, J.J. Bolock, also picked up a pair of wins on Sunday. He has reached the consolation semifinals.
Antons and Gruter, winners of last weekend's Western Michigan ITA Regional doubles draw, are still in the running for back-to-back doubles titles. The Hoosier tandem is two wins away from doing just that.
Both of the IU women's players split their first two sets, forcing a third-set super tiebreaker. Junior Lindsey Stuckey outlasted Ohio State's Kelsey Havliand, 2-6, 6-2, 1-0(5) before eventually falling in the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, senior Stephanie Heller bounced back from a first-set loss, winning the second stanza, 6-2 over Christine Johnston from Kentucky. Johnston was able to win the match, however, taking the super tiebreaker, 10-7.
