Fesenko Closes Out Olympic Experience with 1,500 Freestyle

BEIJING - Former Indiana University All-American Sergiy Fesenko closed out his Olympic experience with the prelims of the men's 1,500-meter Freestyle Friday night at the National Aquatic Center.
Swimming in the third of five heats, Fesenko placed sixth with a time of 15:13.03. That time placed him 23rd overall, with the top eight swimmers advanced to Saturday's final.
This was Fesenko's second swim of the XXIX Olympiad after placing 16th in the preliminaries of the 400 free on Aug. 9. Fesenko and Indiana University junior Kate Zubkova are representing their native Ukraine at the Games.
Hoosier diver Christina Loukas will continue her quest for a medal after placing eighth in the women's three-meter springboard semifinals on Friday afternoon. The semifinal round is scheduled for 8 a.m. ET Saturday.
