BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana competed in day two of the Hoosier Invitational on Saturday. The day saw four rounds of action, with two rounds of doubles and two rounds of singles play. IU players took both finals spots in both the top singles flight and the doubles bracket and earned finals berths in every main draw. Dominant on the day were IU sophomore Lachlan Ferguson and senior Chris Peek.
The Australian turned Hoosier was 4-0 on the day, advancing to the finals in the IU Flight in singles play and to the finals in the doubles bracket with senior Peter Antons. Ferguson remains undefeated in the tournament through two days of competition.
Ferguson wasn't the only IU player to put in an impressive day's work, as senior Chris Peek was also 4-0, duplicating Ferguson's feat in advancing to the finals of the IU flight and the doubles bracket. He combined with freshman Jeremy Langer to join Ferguson and Antons in the finals. He will also square off with Ferguson in the singles finals.
Also advancing to a flight final was freshman Maxime Armengaud in the Hoosier flight. He will take on Robert Hall of Louisville in the final. In the Crimson flight, Langer will play Zeyad Montasser of Western Michigan in the final, and in the Cream flight, freshman Will Kendall will play Mike Dieciuc of Xavier for the championship.
The tournament continues on Sunday at 8 a.m. ET, with the final doubles matches being served up first. For full coverage of Indiana men's tennis, stay tuned to www.IUHoosiers.com.
