BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana University men's golf team will look to continue its strong start to the 2008-09 campaign when they travel to Simpsonville, Ky. Sept. 29-30 to compete in the Cardinal Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Louisville.
The Hoosiers have recorded top-five finishes in their first two events this fall with a fifth-place showing in the Wolf Run Intercollegiate and an impressive second-place finish in the ultra-competitive Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational. Junior Alex Martin led the way at Olympia Fields, earning co-medalist honors against much of the nation's elite collegiate golfers.
The 15-team field at the Cardinal Intercollegiate features: Indiana, Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Dayton, Denver, DePaul, Eastern Kentucky, Furman, George Mason, George Washington, Kansas, Kansas State, Louisville, Marquette and Marshall.
Indiana's expected line-up will be Jorge Campillo, Alex Martin, Seth Brandon, Chase Wright and Drew Allenspach. Freshman David Erdy is also making the trip, playing as an individual.
The 54-hole event will consist of 36 holes on Sept. 29, followed by the final round on Sept. 30. Check back to IUHoosiers.com for complete results and recap.
