Erica Short Named Big Ten Player of the Week

CHICAGO, Ill. - Erica Short was named Big Ten Player of the Week by the conference office on Monday. Short's performance over the weekend earned her MVP honors at the adidas Classic, leading the Hoosiers to a 3-0 showing and event title.
Short played well in each of Indiana's victories over Valparaiso, Wake Forest and Louisville, who received votes in the latest national poll. The senior captain opened the weekend with a record-breaking performance, putting down 24 kills to mark the highest total ever by a Hoosier in a three-set match and the highest three-set total in the Big Ten this season. Short added to the IU effort with a .420 hitting percentage, 13 digs and four blocks against the Crusaders. She recorded her third 20-kill game of the season and her second of the weekend versus the Cardinals, connecting on 21 in a five-set win. On the weekend, Short paced Indiana with 61 total kills (5.5 kps) to go along with a .292 hitting percentage, eight blocks (0.7 bps) and 26 digs (2.4 dps).
