BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's soccer team had a stellar fall in the classroom, as the Hoosiers posted a team grade-point average of 3.41 for the semester. Twenty-four of the team's 27 players posted a GPA of 3.0 or higher during the fall of 2008.
"I'm very proud that our team performed so well in the classroom this fall," head coach Mick Lyon said. "IU Women's Soccer has traditionally excelled off the field as well as on it, but this might be the best academic semester we've had in my seven years here."
The fall 2008 success comes on the heels of a spring 2008 semester in which 18 of 24 Hoosiers posted a GPA over 3.0. In addition to a strong semester GPA, IU's cumulative GPA as a team rose to 3.26. Twenty out of 27 Hoosiers have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Leading the way are the Hoosiers' 12 Academic All-Big Ten nominees - Kristin Arnold, Jessica Boots, Leigh Anne Cummings, Aleah DeGeneres, Darby Hannon, Liz Holby, Christie Kotynski, Chloe McKay, Taylor Miller, Jocelyn Moses, Natalie O'Bryan and Susan Swepston. Players eligible for Academic All-Big Ten mention are those with a cumulative GPA over 3.0 who are in their third semester at the school.
