BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana junior goalkeeper Alex Mann was named this week's Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week after she helped guide the Hoosiers to a 2-1 win over No. 16 Northwestern at the IU Field Hockey Field on Saturday, Oct. 17.
Mann tallied four saves in 70 minutes and anchored an Indiana defense that kept the Wildcats, one of the biggest offensive threats in the Big Ten, to just one goal on seven shots.
This week's honor is the second for Mann this season and the third of her career and for the Hoosiers this season. She received her first weekly accolade of the season on Aug. 31 and IU junior Mutsa Mutembwa earned the honor on Sept. 7.
The Hoosiers return to action on Friday, Oct. 23, when they host Penn State at 3 p.m. ET in Bloomington.
