BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Three Hoosiers saw action on day one of the Wilson/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship. Freshman Alex van Gils recorded the first two victories of his collegiate career and sophomore Will Kendall and freshman Isade Juneau recorded wins after a bye through the first round, advancing all three through the first two rounds. A win in the third round of qualifying earns each player a berth in the main draw, which opens play on Friday.
In his opening round match, van Gils won 6-2, 6-3 over Jose Berardo of Murray State, and then he matched that score to defeated Bryan Dredge of Wright State in the second round. Kendall won 6-1, 7-6 after a bye through the first round pitted him against James Moye of Vanderbilt. Juneau took his match over Landon Neuman of Wright State 6-1, 6-3.
The Wilson/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship continues at 8 a.m. ET on Friday. For complete coverage of IU men's tennis, stay tuned to IUHoosiers.com.
