Volleyballs Kicks Off Second Half of Big Ten Slate

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana University volleyball (14-10, 3-7) team begins the second half of the Big Ten schedule by hosting a pair of matches inside University Gym this weekend. Indana will start by welcoming in No. 6 Illinois (16-3, 8-2) Friday night, followed by a battle against Northwestern (11-11, 2-8) on Saturday. Both matches are scheduled for 7 p.m. starts.
BigTenNetwork.com will be providing live video streams for each match at a fee of $2.99 per match. Dave Leno is set to provide the play-by-play duties while 2008 All-America Honorable Mention and former Hoosier, Erica Short, serves as the color commentator. In addition, free audio-only broadcasts of the match can be found at IUHoosiers.com.
Fans are encouraged to don their Halloween costumes out to U-Gym ths weekend, especially on Saturday night which is "Hoosier-Ween;" complete with candy, spooky music and a vote for Best Student Costume.
ON THE NATIONAL STAGE
IU Volleyball's next five matches will be nationally broadcast by either the Big Ten Network or their website, BigTenNetwork.com. This weekend's home contests will air online. Meanwhile, the Monon Spike match vs. Purdue on Nov. 4 is set to be shown LIVE on the Big Ten Network. Indiana's next two matches at Minnesota and Michigan State will also air online.
BIG TEN DOMINANCE
The Big Ten once again leads the nation with three teams ranked in the top seven of the latest AVCA coaches poll. In addition, the Big Ten is the only conference in the country with four teams in the top 10 of the NCAA RPI.
With 10 matches remaining in the regular season, the Hoosiers are currently tied for 7th place in the Big Ten standings. Below junior Taylor Wittmer talks about what the Hoosiers need to do to elevate themselves in those standings over the next five weeks.
